Monday, you will follow the Dordogne along a shaded footpath. 12 minutes later you will arrive at the foot of the castle Castelnaud. In the other direction, after a 15-minute walk, you will find the Beynac Castle and the Marqueyssac Gardens with their bird's-eye view of the Valley of the Five Castles. The castles of Fayrac and Lacoste can be guessed from the shore.
On Tuesday, you continue your discoveries with the prehistoric caves. Over 50 kilometres, the Vézère valley concentrates 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Lascaux caves 40 minutes from the campsite. Your children, quiet, marvel at the bison and wild animals in the cave paintings. You do too.
Wednesday, direction Sarlat at 10 km. You wander through the medieval alleyways before following the scents of the market. The local producers allow you to discover their products: foie gras, magret, nuts, cabecou, wine de Bergerac. While artisans and creators are to be met on the night market Summer.
Thursday, the Lot is yours. The Padirac Chasm and Rocamadour are only an hour away from the campsite.

Recharge your batteries in the Dordogne

You wake up. The campsite is still asleep, while the sky fills with hot air balloons. They take off from the field next door, skim the water of the Dordogne and fly over Beynac. You watch from your terrace, coffee in hand. This is the metronome of a holiday at the Cinq Châteaux.
10 am. The sun has climbed higher. The Heated swimming pool At 26° you'll be waiting. To the left of the basin is Castelnaud Castle and to the right is Beynac Castle. You'll be swimming between two medieval castles.
In the afternoon, you choose the river, with direct access fifty metres lower down. The Dordogne, classified as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, offers you its shingle beach. Your children are paddling on the shore. A deckchair, a book. That's holidays too.
In the evening, the crickets take over, while you admire the sunset over the river. With your feet in the cool water, you un-cork a bottle of Bergerac and toast to this holiday.

Barge trip on the Dordogne and via ferrata
9 AM: the children rush to the Mini Club the campsite, while you lounge by the pool.
12:30: you decide to test the Snack bar. And Perigord burger arrive: shredded duck, apple, cabécou. The chips are homemade. Marina brings her punch. You tell yourself you'll come back next year; you've only been here for three days.
4pm. The children spotted the boules pitch, l’Playground and the Table football. Tournaments follow one another.
8 PM: Concert evening to discover a local music group and share a moment with the family.
The next few days you will explore the surroundings.
You start with a walk in barge.These traditional flat-bottomed boats of the region descend the Dordogne from La Roque-Gageac, 5 km away. A waterside stroll to discover the castles, villages and cliffs from another angle.
The next day, you give in to the Canoe kayak who leaves directly from the campsite. Another way to enjoy the river.
For thrill-seekers, the Marqueyssac via ferrata Further along the cliff, about a hundred metres above the river, along a 200-metre route. Accessible to accompanied children aged 8 and over.

at the Les Cinq Châteaux campsite
No. Le Relais des Cinq Châteaux is an independent hotel. Camping Les Cinq Châteaux is a family-run campsite by the river. Same valley, similar names, but two different addresses and two different accommodation options.
No. The number 5 refers to the five castles visible simultaneously from the campsite: Beynac, Castelnaud, Lacoste, Fayrac and Marqueyssac. We are a 3-star campsite, with the Camping label. Quality.
Yes. "La Cabane" was the former name of the campsite. It became Les Cinq Châteaux in 2022, with the arrival of Marina and Anthony.
Not necessarily. Castelnaud, Beynac and the Marqueyssac gardens are accessible on foot along the Dordogne. A Leclerc supermarket is a 10-minute walk away and opens in April 2026. Staying within a 5 km radius on foot or by bike, a whole week is possible without moving the car. And during July and August, a bus service allows you to get to Sarlat, Domme or Les Milandes.
For Lascaux or the Padirac Chasm, a car remains useful, but the roads are clear from Vézac.
It is a deliberate choice, consistent with our situation in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and with our environmental commitment. The large trees at the campsite provide effective natural shade. The breeze from the Dordogne does the rest.
Sometimes, a few mosquitoes can appear in the late afternoon after rainy spells followed by hot spells. We advise you to bring your usual protection products.
Yes, subject to conditions. A maximum of two animals per pitch, kept on a lead, vaccinated and registered at reception. Category 1 and 2 dogs are forbidden. Outside the summer season, animals are allowed in the rentals, except for Tiny Houses and chalets. In summer, only certain rentals accept them; please specify when booking.
The campsite is open from 1 May to 20 September 2026.
Yes. The snack bar offers burgers, homemade fries, pizzas, crêpes, pastries and morning bread.
Specialities: the Périgourdin burger (shredded duck, apple, and Cabecou cheese) and Marina's punch.
In July and August: open every evening. Out of season: Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, and takeaway.

We've opted for measured entertainment. One concert per week, an outdoor film night, a semi-night-time hike, and evenings with aperitifs and games, as well as barbecue concerts. No foam parties, no karaoke, and no music after a certain hour. The peace and quiet of families and couples who come to recharge their batteries is our top priority.
